Orlando vs Tampa — which has the better lifestyle scene for a weekend trip?
We're planning a lifestyle weekend in Florida and trying to decide between Orlando and Tampa. We've never been to either scene. We like both the club experience and resort/pool vibes. Which city gives us more to work with?
Best Answer
Both are excellent but they offer different strengths:
Tampa:
- Eyz Wide Shut — The best pure nightclub in the region. 12,000 sq ft, massive parties, high energy.
- Caliente Resort — Gorgeous clothing-optional resort with pools, restaurants, and nightlife. A full vacation experience.
- Paradise Lakes — Another resort option with a more community feel.
- Tampa has MORE venues and more variety.
Orlando:
- Secrets Hideaway — Combines resort AND nightclub in one location. You can do the pool by day and Club Secret by night without leaving the property.
- Ranch 4 Play — Unique outdoor/pool party experience.
- Orlando Swingers Club — Solid traditional club.
- Orlando has the convenience factor — everything is within 30 minutes.
My recommendation: If you only have one weekend, go to Tampa. The variety is unbeatable — you can do Caliente during the day and Eyz Wide Shut at night, and experience two completely different vibes. If you want a simpler, all-in-one experience, Secrets Hideaway in Orlando lets you stay, swim, and play all in one place.
Honestly, Tampa and Orlando are only an hour apart on I-4. Some ambitious couples do both in one weekend — Caliente on Saturday day, Eyz Wide Shut on Saturday night, Secrets Hideaway on Sunday.

Tampa, no question. The density of quality lifestyle venues in Tampa Bay is unmatched. Eyz Wide Shut alone is worth the trip, and then you add Caliente, Paradise Lakes, and the house party scene? Orlando has Secrets Hideaway and that's really the main draw. Tampa gives you options.
I'll make the case for Orlando: Secrets Hideaway is truly a one-stop-shop. You check in Friday, you don't leave until Sunday, and you have everything — pool, nightclub, rooms, restaurant. No driving, no logistics. For a first-time Florida lifestyle weekend, that simplicity is really appealing. Plus, if things don't work out at the resort, you're in Orlando — go to Disney the next day and laugh about it.
